“Vast Expanses, Traveling Brightness. Dialogues of Civilizations along the Silk Road”
The Xinjiang Cultural Relics Art Exhibition was inaugurated on the 7th of May at the Byzantine and Christian Museum in Athens, Greece. The exhibition combined replicas of relics with digital art and displays to present a picture of Chinese history and its exchange, conversation and integration of Xinjiang internationally.

The Deputy Director of the National Cultural Heritage Administration, Tang Wei, claimed that the cultural heritage authorities of China and Greece have succeeded in creating flourishing cultural relic exhibitions, recovering and returning the lost relics as well as technically cooperating and protecting them. This will hopefully prove as an opportunity to deepen the friendship bond and resonance between both the
ancient civilization of China and that of Greece.

The Chairman of the Board for the Athens Byzantine and Christian museum, George Chaprunis, said that this exhibition is timeless and highlights the historical connection between diverse cultures. In this day and age, the word is full of conflict and obstacles, and culture, as well as art, are powerful instruments to promote discussion and empathy, aiding in fostering consideration and peace among countries.

Supported by the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Bureau of Cultural Relics, this exhibition is composed of 44 replica exhibits discovered in Xinjiang, which includes Fuxi Nuwa silk paintings, eight dragon-patterned gold buckles, three embossed clay pots and more.
It constitutes unique interaction between two civilizations, encouraging further and richer collaborations in the future between China and Greece.
The exhibition will last until mid June and will be exhibited on the first floor of the Duchess of Placentia Building at the Byzantine and Christian Museum in Athens, Greece.
