PostScriptum completed the production and coordination of the contemporary art exhibition «Thesis-Antithesis-Synthesis. In the Belt of Change» with Greece participating as an honoured guest country in the exhibition The Tides of the Century – 2020 International Art Exhibition that takes place in Ocean Flower Island, in Hainan island, a new economic and tourist destination in South China.
The international exhibition in which the Greek participation is part of is entitled “The Tides of the Century – 2020 International Art Exhibition” and extends to 7 Museums, one of which is entirely dedicated to the Greek participation. The participation was approved following a special invitation that PostScriptum received in January 2020 in order to submit a proposal for the participation of Greece as an honored country. The invitation came from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and in particular by the Chinese International Exhibition Agency (CIEA) after the successful participation of PostScriptum in the Greek Pavilion at the international exhibition “China International Import Expo – CIIE” organized in Shanghai in November 2019.
The submission proposal, conceived and designed in collaboration with the curator Mrs. Katerina Koskina and the Athens Digital Art Festival (ADAF) as an invited organization was selected as the best proposal and the setting of the exhibition was implemented in an unprecedented way due to the pandemic and completed in February 2021. Amidst the general Lockdown and its effects to commercial transportation, more than 50 important artworks of contemporary Greek art travelled from all over the world to the border region of Hainan. For 3 entire weeks the curatorial and production teams overcame distance, language barriers, time difference and with the help of successive teleconferences and exchange of messages in all forms managed, along with the collaboration of PostScriptum partners in China to set up an exhibition of 34 Greek artists in 1,500sqm.
The participation of Greece as an honored country is under the auspices of the Secretariat General for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Ministry of Tourism, the Greek National Tourism Organization and the Municipality of Athens and while it has benn included in the official program of 2021: Greece-China Year of Culture and Tourism
